This morning the snow is virtually gone and we seem to be reverting to the weather pattern that has been with us for most of the trek, which is mostly sunshine.
We leave Tyangboche and head down the trail towards Namche Bazaar. This is the main highway between Lukla and Everest and is relatively busy with trekkers. Associated with this are a number of stalls in the small villages along the route selling local trinkets, probably of dubious value, but we can’t resist picking up some local trinkets of Tibetan jewelry or prayer wheels as gifts of momentos.
We rejoin our outbound route at Sanasa and stop again for a while to take in the views. It is probably the last good look we will get of Everest and the surrounding peaks.
Arriving at Namche Bazaar we set up camp at the same location we had used on the way up. It feels warm to be down at this altitude (11,500 feet) compared to the cold of the higher altitudes, that over a period of days seemed to seep into your bones.
It is easier for the cook team to get food in a place like Namche, so the quality of our meals, particularly due to the availability of meat and other fresh produce is improved.
